Scope: films and documentary work, exhibition concepts and materials, difference-making businesses and organisational redesigns, articles, book chapters, artist texts, job applications, CVs, websites. I don’t presently take on full length Phd theses or whole academic publishing books, though I have done that work in the past. Mentoring options can be short term or long term, at any phase of development of a project.

Mentoring Meetings 

Mentoring is different to editing in so far as you are drawing on much more of my experience – between art, research, organisational consulting, supervision, knowledge of critical theory and intellectual history, and also practical coaching tools – inside of the project development phase. Mentoring can help when you are just beginning, or have reached an impasse or are overwhelmed, want to switch strategies, or experiment across media. I may also recommend readings or give you examples of other comparative projects. The work we do together will likely help you become more conscious of your own tendencies and strengths. We may cover dealing with institutions or interpreting feedback from others and learning self-advocacy if relevant.  We make talk about legacies, and new or life-long influences on your work. I can provide advice on conceptualisation, research, reading, note-taking, development editing, planning, daily rhythm and organisational strategies. I can help you make sure that this is the work you really need to be doing right now.

Choose this option if you have editing commentary from me or someone else and require personal face to face time feedback from those other ‘Editing’ processes. 

$100 per hour or $550 per day. 

Editing Services 

I will read your writing and provide feedback that is clear and actionable. I can do surface level tweaks or commit to challenging you to go deeper in the direction of your most passionate interests.

Short Pieces

Sharp, helpful, and professional feedback on voice, structure, detail, and intended audience. Ideal for artist statements and biographies, grant applications and CVs. Fast turnaround.
30 mins $65 | 45 mins $85 | 1 hour $100

Longer Pieces 

Structural, Development Editing – with or without rewriting 

If you are in need of a strong editorial eye over a significant but incomplete piece of work, or you need help getting from first to third draft etc, this option is best to develop a substantial and convincing voice and argument for your intended audience or platform.

Structural or development editing can provide you with unexpected perspectives and tools to gain clarity and stronger argumentation to complete your work. 

Note: Limited scope for ‘rewriting’ on academic texts. 

$100 per hour or $550 per day. 

Proofreading and Copy Editing – Limited Service 

You need proofreading if you are confident in your writing, structure and clarity, but you need a fresh pair of eyes to look for errors and/or inconsistencies in spelling, grammar and formatting. Copy editing is necessary if you have written your final, or near final, draft, and you are struggling with some sections, or you are unsure of your structure. Copy editing is often useful for writers with English as an additional language. 
$25-55 per 1,000 words depending on degree of intervention required. 

Fast Turnaround? 

20% fee increase for weekend and/or 24 hour turnaround

Technicalities 

I use either Microsoft Word or Google Docs as you prefer. I will also give a seperate short written report with priority remarks relating to approaching my comments on your text and how to proceed.
